About Me
Monty Banks is an authentic professional, experienced, award winning singer, pianist, bandleader, and entertainer. His musical style is an entertaining mix of Rat Pack Era Swing, Traditional Jazz, and New Orleans R&B.
From the roots of Rock ‘N Roll, to the swingin’ good times of the Rat Pack Era, Monty’s adventures in music have taken him from his native Seattle to New York City, Las Vegas, to Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruise ships, Strip Casinos in Nevada and Resort Casinos in Arizona, and now the city where jazz was born: New Orleans. “I love mixing the swingin’ sensibilities of Frank Sinatra, with the syncopating blues of Jelly Roll Morton, when combined with the upbeat, Creole boogie of Fats Domino,” he says. “That’s the right recipe for my kind of good times music!”
Monty loves playing music in New Orleans. He plays regularly at the beloved Irene’s Cuisine, with additional appearances at French Quarter Fest, the Carousel Lounge at the Monteleone Hotel, Fountain Lounge at the Roosevelt Hotel, The Spotted Cat on Frenchmen Street, Three Muses, and Mahogany Jazz Hall. He also loves performing at The Bombay Club, Little Gem Saloon, Fritzell’s European Jazz Club on Bourbon Street, as well as The 21st Amendment.
In Seattle he can be heard at The Pink Door, Chandelier Lounge, Vito’s, the Sorrento Hotel, the Royal Room, and the Seattle Space Needle.
